1. what are the rules for recruitment agencies
recruitment agencies are governed by the department of trade and industry (dti), in addition many, including orchard and suits will belong to the rec, the recruitment and employment confederation. both set rules for the recruitment industry, the dti's are compulsory for all agencies, the rec is a voluntary membership and it provides best practise guidelines and regulations to all its members.

2. what do these regulations mean as a candidate?
the regulations are designed to protect individuals from unscrupulous recruitment companies. as a candidate some of the obvious benefits include:

we will not forward your details to anyone without your prior permission specifically for each client.

we provide 20 days paid holiday (pro rata) for all paye freelancers.

we can not advertise a job that we are not actively recruiting for.

we interview every candidate to ensure that we only send them forward to suitable roles.
3. what do these regulations mean as a client?
as a client its important to know that your agency acts ethically and professionally at all times. as a company orchard has for years traded in a way that was compliant with a vast majority of the dti regulations as an existing rec member. these include

all candidates have been contacted about your company before we forward them to you.

all freelancers receive paid holiday from orchard.
in addition orchard and suits have a no headhunting policy, unlike many of our competitors. this means that we do not solicit any direct contact with any of your staff and will only respond to applications to ourselves.
